Force Majeure (French: [fÉÊs maÊÅÊ]; Swedish: Turist, “The Tourist”) is a 2014 black comedy film written and directed by Ruben Östlund. It depicts the strains in a marriage caused by an avalanche in the French Alps, when the husband prioritizes his own escape over the safety of his wife and two children. The title used for the film in some English-speaking countries, Force Majeure, comes from force majeure, a contract clause that relieves both parties of liability in the event of an unforeseen disaster.
